File Architecting enterprise BPM systems for optimal agility
Experience shows that business wants separate requests for change to be implemented quickly. These changes are typically small from the point of view of the business, but unpredictable from the point of view of the IT. To be able to handle easily such a flow of requests for change, a BPM system has to be properly architected so that it can address all concerns, from those of traditional enterprise architecture right through to those of execution. The aim of this article is to share my experience with a practical architectural framework for the improvement of complex BPM systems. This framework provides recommendations on how to implement agile (i.e. easy-to-evolve) enterprise BPM systems. Architecture and Process conference www.architecture08.com, Washington DC, April 2008. Also available from slideshare http://www.slideshare.net/TransformationInnovation/architecting-enterprise-bpm-systems-for-optimal-agility/
Link Business Process Modelling Procedure - A pragmatic method to build executable business processes
From our experience delivering effective and efficient process models is one of the most chal-lenging parts in any business process initiative. A failure to correctly model the process may lead to inef-ficient, non adaptable, non maintainable or ineffective processes. Despite the first impression, capturing a business process is not a simple task, it requires a methodical approach. Throughout this article, we pre-sent our modelling approach and give recommendations, based on our experience, to ensure the accu-rate transformation of business needs into executable business processes, thus realize business & IT alignment. Our methodology is divided in four steps: black boxing, decomposition, coordination and in-strumentation. It is a recursive and iterative procedure where building blocks are recursively constructed, like Russian dolls. This modelling procedure is an integral part of our approach for improving BPM systems. It is the first part of a book that will be released soon.

File Agile SOA Framework For Process Automation And Integration
Published in 2004 on www.ebizq.net (http://www.ebizq.net/hot_topics/soa/features/4787.html?page=1&pp=1) Agile SOA Framework For Process Automation And Integration Enterprises with such an architecture would realize benefits that only begin with much greater agility and lower maintenance costs, points out longtime IT consultant Alexander Samarin. And he has just such a design in mind...

File Explaining EA: business architecture basics
The purpose of this document is to provide an explanation about Business Architecture (BA). Informally speaking, BA defines how work gets done within an enterprise. How work gets done is, of course, not completely unknown, but the knowledge is diffused throughout different instructions, strategic papers, reports, e-mails and in peoples’ heads. The aim of BA is to make this knowledge explicit, i.e. formal, externalized and operational, so it can be used for decision making, operating control, daily work, knowledge transfer, etc.
